ASHRAE Position Document on Airborne Infectious Diseases/ASHRAE COVID-19 Preparedness Resources
The talk references the ASHRAE COVID-19 Preparedness Resources, and gives a special focus to ASHRAE Position Document on Airborne Infectious Diseases in relation to the operation of HVAC systems. It discusses the transmission mechanism of airborne infectious diseases, and implications for building owners, operators, and engineers. Practical considerations are given for ventilation and air cleaning strategies, including dilution ventilation, flow regimes, differential room pressurization, personalized ventilation, filtration and others. HVAC and non-HVAC strategies are considered, and recommendations for emergency planning are discussed.

Prof Ljubomir Jankovic, MSc, PhD, FIAP, CEng, MASHRAE, MCIBSE, is Professor of Advanced Building Design at the University of Hertfordshire, where he conducts interdisciplinary research and leads Zero Carbon Lab.
