Creating Zero Carbon Communities: The Role of Digital Twins
Smart Energy community scale initiatives are emerging around the World, which include bounded complex environments such as islands, university campuses, airports and large real estate developments. To realise the potential of such projects requires tools that can help planners, designers, managers and users make the decisions across a complex set of possible actions and investments. Digital Twins can provide the intelligent modelling, analytical and simulation capabilities needed, supporting the needs of diverse user groups including citizens and other service users.
The webinar covers the roadmap for the use of digital twins in the development of zero carbon communities and includes:
- An overview of the key elements of digital twin solutions and their value in supporting community-scale projects
- Examples from a diverse range of organisations that are using the capabilities of digital twin technologies to improve their energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
- Demonstration of the key configuration processes and methodologies involved in the development of a digital twin
- Recommendations for organisations getting started with digital twins, including limitations and advice on how to tackle the most common challenges

Jérôme Nessi enables organisations set up their net zero journey to reach carbon neutrality. He delivers new growth into the new green buildings’ revolution. He has spent more than 20 years in sustainability and energy to develop full turnkey solutions. Currently he is working at IES Limited where he helps Customers to make the right decision using a new range of digital twin technologies creating sustainable, intelligent communities for resilient, resource efficient citizens, companies, campuses, cities and countries. Prior to this, he worked as a Senior Sales Engineer across EMEA in energy, the construction sector and the built environment. Jérôme holds a Master's Degree in the field of Science in greenhouse technologies. He is an ESOS Energy Lead Assessor, a Chartered Engineer & a Chartered Environmentalist.

Ruggiero Guida wants to change the way the built environment is designed and operated by advocating Performance Based Design. Supported by strong software knowledge and experience in the built environment Ruggiero provides quantified advice on buildings as well as master plans. Ruggiero has spent more than 20 years in sustainability and in particular in green buildings, from concept to construction to operation. Currently he is working at IES Limited as Chief Product Manager for the Intelligent Communities Lifecycle. He focuses on urban modelling, building operation and outdoor comfort. Prior to IES he was an associate at WSP Middle East; building specialist at Sefaira, a green building software startup (now Trimble); and a Partner at London based Max Fordham’s LLP. Ruggiero holds a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and Computational Fluid Dynamics. He is a UK Chartered Engineer and member of CIBSE.

Graeme Robertson has worked in the field of energy management for over 30 years and began his career as one of the first batch of UK graduates in energy engineering, back when only two degree courses were available in the UK. During his early years Graeme worked in the field of Building Energy Management Systems, progressively building on a strong technical background to encompass security, lighting control, life safety, IoT and systems integration before moving into energy modelling and digital twin technologies. Graeme has written in numerous technical publications including a chapter in the book 'Advanced Engineering Technologies in Healthcare' published by the Royal Chartered Institute of Mechanical Engineering. Graeme now works in the role of Global Sales Director for IES.
